The Diocese of Karonga has urged hospital in-charges and management staff from its health facilities to uphold professionalism and ethical standards in the delivery of health services.
Speaking during a meeting held on 6th March 2026 in Karonga District, Diocesan Health Desk Officer Joseph Kimangila said the Diocese is committed to ensuring that all health workers adhere to the ethical standards and principles of their profession while providing services to communities.

He explained that the Diocese places great emphasis on quality health care and expects all staff to follow established guidelines in their work.
“We focus on ensuring that communities have access to quality health services. As a Diocese, we therefore urge hospital in-charges and management teams to adhere to ethical principles in their work so that we avoid unnecessary challenges,” he said.

Kimangila added that the meeting served as a platform to remind hospital management teams about key operational areas including internal controls and auditing, human resources management, and financial management, as well as strengthening their capacity to effectively run the health facilities.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, St Anne’s Community Hospital In-Charge Sister Florence Msowoya said the meeting was an important reminder of the responsibilities expected of them as health facility managers.

She said the discussions helped align hospital management practices with the Diocese’s strategic plans for the health sector.
“This meeting has been an eye-opener to us. Of course, we may know what is supposed to be done, but it has reminded us to remain professional in our work. I am urging my colleagues to ensure that we uphold professionalism and ethical standards in all that we do,” said Sister Msowoya.

Karonga Diocese runs seven health facilities which include St Anne’s Community Hospital, Atupele Community Hospital, Hope Clinic, St Clara Health Facility, St Cynthia Health Facility, and Kaseye Community Hospital.
